GAS DETECTION IN THE OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY (IEC EC CERTIFIED)
The Oil and gas industry have many applications for fixed and portable gas detection systems. There are applications in varying zones relating to the volatility of that particular area of the plant, ship or platform. Safe to Hazardous areas are usually defined by the type of gas present, the concentration of the gas and also the ignition temperature of the gas. These areas are often designated as Ex areas, so in these areas it is very important to install the correct specification of equipment. Ex areas are generally split into 3 zones as below;
Zone 0 – Gas present all the time or for prolonged periods of time at potentially explosive levels, area usually categorised as Exia, meaning intrinsically safe equipment is required (More than 1000 hours per year)
Zone 1 – Gas is likely to be present in normal process conditions, area usually categorised as Ex, meaning explosion proof equipment is required (More than 10 hours per year but less than 1000 hours per year)
Zone 2 – Gas not likely to be present in normal process conditions, however if gas is detected it will only be brief periods of time, equipment in these areas are generally hermetically sealed and non sparking (Less than 10 hours per year)
Our hazardous area gas detectors have IECEx and ATEX compliance so you can be sure that our equipment complies with the appropriate legislation.

UNIQUES SOLUTIONS FOR HAZARDOUS AREAS
Hazardous areas may contain flammable liquids, solvents and toxic chemicals, it is important to monitor to ensure that the contaminants don’t emit alarm limits level gas concentrations. All our systems can be connected to the plants SCADA and DCS to allow continuous monitoring and allow historical logging. We as standard have multiple analog and digital outputs that can activate both visual and audible alarms i.e. beacons/sounders. We also have IECEx certification so you can be confident that we conform with all necessary legislation and regulations, so our sensors can be installed in Hazardous areas.
HIGH ACCURACY IN BOTH FIXED AND PORTABLE DETECTORS
Our fixed and portable gas sensors are accurate to 0.1% of the LEL / VOL scale, so you can be sure of reliability and timely indication of the gas presence reaching alarm limits. At which point you can relay the alarm condition via sounder / beacon, your internal AMS (Alarm Management System) or most other audio / visual warning equipment.
